Boxningshandskar för barn

Gloves that are too big hinder technique. Gloves that are too small offer insufficient protection. For children, this balance makes the difference between a training session they enjoy and one where they get frustrated and quit. In addition, ill-fitting gloves can lead to injuries. At The Fight Company, you'll find boxing gloves for children that match your child's age, weight, and training level. From an introduction to boxing to serious kickboxing training.

What are children's boxing gloves?

Children's boxing gloves are not simply scaled-down versions of adult gloves. They are designed for growing hands: lighter in weight, smaller in size, and with padding adjusted to the power level of young athletes. Yet, they offer full protection for wrists, knuckles, and fingers.

Children use these gloves for boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai. For the standing part of MMA training, children also use boxing gloves. A well-fitting glove helps your child learn the correct technique faster and makes training more fun and safer at the same time.

What types of children's boxing gloves are there?

There are different types of children's boxing gloves. Training gloves are the most versatile: suitable for bag work, technique training, and pad work. They are light and agile, ideal for beginners. Sparring gloves have extra padding to protect both the wearer and the sparring partner. Competition gloves are tighter and heavier and are intended for official competitions.

Children's boxing gloves exclusively feature a velcro closure: quick to put on and take off, easily adjustable, and stable during training.

Also always consider purchasing bandages. Bandages offer extra wrist support and protect the knuckles. Children aged 10 and older can often wrap bandages themselves; younger children need help from a trainer or parent.

How to choose the right boxing gloves for your child?

The choice is determined by several factors: the child's weight and hand circumference, the desired protection, and ease of use.

Materials: what's inside a child's boxing glove?

Children's boxing gloves are made of synthetic leather (PU leather), including the models in our assortment. This material is light, easy to clean, and resistant to daily use.

The padding consists of foam. High-quality models use multi-layer foam that absorbs shocks better, which is noticeable during intensive bag work or pad work. Also pay attention to the inner lining: breathable material prevents sweaty hands and inhibits odor development after multiple training sessions.

What size boxing gloves does your child need?

The size of boxing gloves is expressed in ounces (oz). For children, boxing gloves are available starting from 2 oz. The larger and heavier the child, the more oz is needed.

How to determine the correct size:

1. Measure hand circumference: Use a tape measure to measure the circumference of the hand, approximately 2 cm above the thumb.
2. Note the hand circumference: Write down the circumference to one decimal place.
3. Check the table: Read the corresponding size below.

• < 30 kg
  Hand circumference: < 13 cm
  Size: 2 oz

• 30 – 40 kg

Frequently asked questions about children's boxing gloves

What size boxing gloves are suitable for my 8-year-old child?

That depends on your child's weight and hand circumference. Weigh your child and measure their hand circumference approximately 2 cm above the thumb. Then use the size chart above to determine the correct size.

What is the difference between 4 oz, 6 oz, and 8 oz boxing gloves for children?

More oz means more padding and therefore more protection, but also a heavier feeling on the hand. For young children, too much weight is tiring and disrupts technique. Choose the oz size that matches your child's age AND body weight, not just their age.

Aren't children's boxing gloves too heavy for training?

No, children's boxing gloves are specially designed for children's smaller hands and body weight. The gloves start at 2 oz and go up to a maximum of 8 oz for children in higher weight classes.

How do I know if boxing gloves fit my child well?

Put on the glove with bandages: this is how you'll train in practice. The glove fits well if the wrist doesn't move in the wrist wrap, the fingertips touch the end of the glove, and the velcro closes without stretching. Does the glove slide during punching? Then the size is too big.

How do I best maintain my child's boxing gloves?

After each training session, allow the gloves to air out thoroughly in a ventilated area. Do not put them directly into a bag. If necessary, use a special glove spray to prevent bacteria and odors. Occasionally clean the outside with a damp cloth.

Are there special boxing gloves for girls or boys?

No. Boxing gloves are made based on hand size and oz weight, not gender. Some brands offer models in colors like pink or purple, but the protection and function are identical. Choose based on size and training goal.
